whateveramoon is an independent alternative pop/rock duo based out of Kansas City, Missouri. Though whateveramoon consists of two people, their music feels much larger than two.

 

From cheap apartment living rooms and dead-end retail jobs to an RV and a life built entirely around music, Catie Wolff and CJ Gilbert have committed themselves fully to whateveramoon. Their debut album was completely written, recorded, and produced from their tiny apartment living room. Their sophomore album is being built from an RV and whatever other spaces they happen to find along the way. 

 

Their debut album, Flowers From Rain, released in June 2026. The album chronicled their own personal breakup and reconciliation, telling two very different sides of the exact same story.

If Flowers From Rain was about looking back, Something Real is about looking forward. 

 

Set for release in January 2027, Something Real begins with a simple request: give us “something real.” In return, whateveramoon promises to do the same. The album follows the messy, contradicting, beautifully tragic experience of being a person, without trying to hide the parts that don't fit neatly together. 

 

Something Real also represents a significant step forward for whateveramoon sonically. Still rooted in the elements that have become central to their sound (electric guitars, active basslines, electronic textures, and infectious hooks), the album pushes further into both production and songwriting. It is the result of Catie and CJ constantly pushing one another out of their comfort zones, combining two very different creative perspectives into something neither could have made alone. 

 

That same philosophy carries into whateveramoon’s live show. Performing as a duo, they are constantly adapting their setup to whatever equipment and resources they have available while refusing to let those limitations dictate the experience. They do everything they can to create the biggest, most exciting show possible. When Catie and CJ take the stage together, they become a cohesive unit, bringing the energy and sound of something much larger than two people. 

 

With Something Real, rolling out this fall, whateveramoon is entering its next chapter the same way they have everything else: themselves, by hand, and without pretending to have it all figured out. The lead single "Life To Own," arrives October 27, followed by two more singles before the full album arrives January 2027.
